I know some of you might have had access to the beta, but what is everyone's first impression of the BC?

I solo'd for about 2 hours last night with Gig and am already a third of the way to lvl 71. I had feared that leveling would be very difficult, but it seems like business as usual.

What is really sad is the few greens I got in that time were better than my blues (level 60 green beats level 59 blues).

Still, I think my first impression is that I like the expansion very much.

I am very impressed with the expansion so far. You can tell how much effort was put into the development of the zones, quests, etc.

The new races starting areas are also very rich with things to do, so much so that I even got disoriented while working on my Blood Elf :P

Agreed. They really did a good job with this. The new zones are awesome. I was exploring the Netherstorm tonight for kicks, it is a neat looking zone. Nagrand is quite pretty too.

The dungeons so far are well thought out, consisting of short wings instead of long sprawling affairs so you don't have to spend your whole night inside. The Ramparts was a nice warm up. Blood Furnace is fun, and the Slave Pens in CFR is also cool. The trash mobs in the Pens are even challenging for a change. They have fear, mind control, magic reflect. It's cool. You have to be on your toes instead of mindlessly tanking and spanking all day. I can't wait to hear the QQing from the puggers about how the new instances are too hard. (WTF iz rong with u Blizz? U make game 2 hard 4 non raiderz, u suck!)

    Yeah that rocks!

I liked the earlier boss that look like a big floating jellyfish eyeball thingy. Actually it reminded me a little of a Cacodemon from Doom.

Level 64 now. Been going steady with quests, professions, etc.

Rank 12 frostbolt takes more mana and does less damage than rank 11. gg

Other mage changes in the next patch, first the bad news:

    • Each rank of "Improved Fireball" now reduces your spell damage coefficient by 2%.
    • Each rank of "Improved Frostbolt" now reduces your spell damage coefficient by 2%.

    And now the good:

    • "Counterspell" no longer triggers the global cooldown.!!!!
    • "Mana Shield" now absorbs magical damage as well as physical damage.:eek:!!!!!

I claim this thread for the mages. :king:

That is a huge change to mana shield. The imp talent for mana shield is now much more appealing... I used to be a full arcane mage, and that imp talent is huge for mana shield.

@CS - so much for the famous "consistency" argument.

Level 70 now. Got my epic flying mount and class books. My professions are almost topped out. Now I need to grind mass amounts of gold.

I must say that the flying mount changes the game a lot. It is huge being able to escape into the air and get everywhere faster.

On Sargaras there are Dive Bomb Death Squads of Alliance everywhere in Outlands. It actually rains Cat(form)s and Dogs (rogues)!

On Hyjal most people don't have their flag on, so we get a lot of PvE griefing where opposing factions try to cross agro to kill their enemies. Iceblock kills PvE griefers... here, have my agro and yours. And now with invisibility I can escape unharmed after the griefer dies. :p
