we had 109 people on the site yesterday morning!? Someone's been greasing Googles palms
what the... I didn't even see that. I can only assume it was a search spider infestation.
hmm. search spiders... I thought you had those blocked somehow jake? or is there even a way to do that?
There is a way to block them, but I have never blocked them. Search spiders bring people.
Yeah, 90% of the time Guest(s) are merely spiders trapped in a PHP loop.
ah, forgive me. I don't know PHP (or much about spiders, even)
I gather that many search engines don't index dynamic pages with query strings or session IDs because of the danger that the spider/bot gets trapped in a loop. Needless to say I've had no problems with this myself, and my site(s) has always used PHP query strings.
whoah.... owned by Kat (mind if we call you Kat...Kathleen just seems to take so much effort)
Not at all, I actually prefer Kat.
Jake, I think we can keep this one...
Oh, don’t worry - couldn’t get rid of me if you tried.
Some spiders do dynamic pages, some don't. Google does and that's the only one that matters.
heh, we have our own Kat now (in reference to Kat, formerly of Blizzard).
Mahahaha... as long as someone changes the litter box I'm happy and no I wont do it. ^_^ (j/k)
What happened to Blizzard's Kat?
If you want the rumor it was that she was fired from Blizzard as she seemed to pleased with the job to quit (but we can all hide our ture feelings.) In anycase all that we know is that she is no longer with Blizzard.
Offical Post was as follows: http://wowvault.ign.com/devposts/index.php?mode=full&id=6119
Okay, but why would that want her gone? Obviously if she enjoyed her job she wouldn't want to quit, so they'd concurrently have a reason to want to fire her... Meh, it was nice that they had a community spokesperson, more companies should.
im just fixing that so i can look at it
Yea, I didnt notice my mistake untill it was too late to edit it... damn you and your time requirements jake!
i fix 4u
Whoa, bunch of guests on again. It's at 120 right now.
I checked the IPs. It's the inktomi spider. That spider is known for hitting sites hard like this, but it's no problem for my server.
